Axial flow fans work on the principle that the direction of air is along the axis. Generally in an axial fan air is pushed through the impeller and towards its motor but it also depends on the direction of rotation of the impeller. As a thumb rule when the impeller blades seem to curve towards you that is the exhaust side. On the other hand if those same blades are curving away from you that is the intake side. Axial flow fans come in various forms such as tube axial bifurcated axial flow plug fans and jet fans.
